UC San Diego Insurance Waiver Requirements
The table below lists the official waiver criteria for Fall 2026. PSI plans are designed to meet every requirement.

| Out-of-Pocket Maximum | Annual Out-of-Pocket maximum must be $8,700 or less. | PSI plans meet the out-of-pocket limit of $8,700 or lower. |
| No Reimbursement Plan | Plan may not be a reimbursement model; must provide direct billing. | PSI is a direct-bill PPO plan. You do not need to pay upfront and seek reimbursement. |
| Suicide & Mental Health | Must cover services related to suicidal conditions and mental health as any other illness. | Full coverage for suicidal conditions, attempted suicide, and mental health/substance abuse. |
| Pre-existing Conditions | No pre-existing condition exclusion or waiting periods. | 100% coverage for pre-existing conditions from Day 1 (No waiting period). |
| Sports & Recreation | Must cover injuries from recreational activities or amateur sports. | Full coverage for all recreational activities and amateur sports injuries. |
